Taser away
I love free speech, but “It’s not free speech if you steal it.”
If someone who is as much of a jackass as Andrew Meyer
http://youtube.com/watch?v=HgrFSHZfD1o
interrupted me while I was speaking, I’d taser him myself.
–
Update later: Article that says Andrew brought his own camera to the event, handed to a girl to hold so he’d be sure to get his actions on camera, and then egged the cops on before the part of the clip he uploaded to YouTube. And he has a history of jackassery and of uploading his exploits to YouTube for attention. (But then again, who doesn’t, these days?)

Holy crap.
That guys obnoxious voice was so loud I had to turn my mac’s volume down to the lowest notch so as not to disturb my neighors in the NEXT HOUSE.
I’m for the police on this one actually.

Yup,.
I’m not sure I’m really WITH the police on this one, but I think calling this guy a martyr for free speech (like many are doing) is not too far past calling OJ a martyr for black rights.

Taser is the most inhumane torture on planet earth that should not be used on any human beings, especially on someone who is not physically violent. However, it seems like that the cops in the U.S. enjoy applying it on college kids nowadays just to gain some kind of sick pleasure. Remember UCLA?
I guess Christian Holmes and MWD would like have a taste of it sometime and then think twice if they want to take the police’s side or call the kid names.
Oh well, what’s the point in arguing with you guys anyway? You used to be young and stupid yourselves, but not ANYMORE. Haliluya!

I’d like to see a punk-rocker-used-to-be like MWD having the guts to taser someone.

Tasers don’t usually do permanent damage. Billy clubs can. Maybe you’re thinking of them? There are MUCH more inhumane things than a taser. Guns for instance.
Read that update link. The guy was joking with the cops in the car.
You don’t do that after being clubbed. Or after being shot.
He probably created the whole event for attention.
He’s a stand up comedian and is loving the attention. Check out his own website:

And I own a taser (as you can see) and would use it in a second if someone came at me. I also own a shotgun.
I took the taser outside when someone tried to break into my home last year, ready to use it. Didn’t need to, he was slow and stupid. I confronted the guy, walked up to him, he slunk away with his head down. I called the cops, they got here in 90 seconds and took him away.
I honestly don’t think the cops were out of line with the college student in the video. I think a taser would be pretty standard procedure for anyone who goes ballistic and starts flailing and acting like they might get violent and refused to cooperate a few yards away from a US senator.
And the footage you see was from the kid’s own camera. He brought it and handed it to some girl, said “watch this” to her, grabbed the mic out of someone else’s hand while they asked a question, egged the cops on, then only uploaded the part of the video that made himself look like a victim. He conveniently forgot to upload the part where he said some shit to the cops, (which he didn’t film, but witnesses heard it), and the part where he grabbed the mic when it wasn’t his turn.
It’s not free speech. It’s someone being a total jackass, and being dealt with like a jackass.
….Whatever. Stink fight can always use a good stink fight. “The essence of drama is conflict”, as they teach the screenwriters. (And that’s to Chery as much as it’s to the guy who riled up the cops enough to get tasered so he’d have something dramatic to share on YouTube.)

JEez Chery, You must hate me, huh?
You’re always such a prick to me on the Internet. No humor at all. You just always get personal with me. Never “I think you’re wrong and here’s why”.
You always go straight to stuff like “You used to be a cool punker and now you’re a pussy” …that kind of personal attack. Whereas a free discourse of ideas would be better….
…Especially when the topic IS free speech.
Besides, there’s a major hole in your logic. You first say the cops are horrible for doing this, then say I’m not man enough to do what the cops did.
Huh?????? Muh????

Thor Shield jacket may block tasers, but if you’re wearing one, the cops tase you, and you don’t comply, which you probably won’t in this vest, they will probably shoot you.
