Eddy Sky dancing with Bomb in 1987
So, I recently posted about my friend Eddy Sky, (a.k.a. Eddy Carranza) the Go-Go dancer for Bomb who died in 1995. I was really missing him, and sad I didn’t have a photo of him dancing.
This week my dad sent me some old photos out of the blue (he doesn’t read StinkFight, he doesn’t read the web. He has trouble navigating e-mail sometimes.) But he sent me these awesome 20-year-old pix he took of Bomb playing in Jamestown, NY. It was in 1987 on our first tour, at a bar called The Rusty Nail.
One of the pix is of Eddy dancing (he’s in the middle, I’m on the left, Jay Crawford is on the right):
Here’s the rest of the pix>>>
Me singing with Bomb. I think I wore a suit that night to impress my dad:
Me and Jay in Bomb (you can sort of see Tony playing drums to my left, and you can sort of see Eddy rolling on the ground between me and Jay):
Me jumping after the show. I look kinda Ska, though I wasn’t thinking that:
And just for further kicks, here’s another photo my dad sent, me in 1980 (left, the incredibly skinny guy) at age 16 in a redneck pool with some friends, Grant Beckman and (I think) his cousin, Billy Beckman:

I brought it out to San Fran with me from Virginia. Donna bought it for me, and it’s got a strand of Crissy’s hair hanging from the headstock. She gave me the hair as a parting gift when I split town, jumped on the Greyhound bus, and took LSD to “prepare” me for San Francisco.
Skip, didn’t Eddy go home with some pharmacist’s daughter that night? I think she fell in love with him.

Lisa! …..OH NOW I remember!
cause…She loved ME too! ( :
After Chatham College, she married the sax player from the
Lounge Lizards, then became a hardcore Christian.
She avoids ALL of us now. [thats easy now I'm in China]
But her Dad, well he began smoking pharmeceutical grade cocaine in his laboratory and lost the family business and all that old money.
I suppose ,stranger things have happened in that town.
Need more dirt? I always got it!

Wow! I love that guy.
Like his acting more than his music. He’s great in “Down By Law” with Tom Waits.

what is the story between the (in)famous bus trip to san fransico?
December 16th, 2007 at 9:11 am
Jesse - in between what and what? On the bus, or between now and then?
The bus trip is in my novel “Starving in the company of beautiful women”, and between then and now is described at length in a lot of different episodes of “Clone The Homeless”
Michael W. Dean’s podcast that remembers when sex was safe and music was dangerous. (Free, and no iPod is needed to listen.)

Imagine all the things we wouldn’t have been, if not for Eddy Carranza.
The shots of Jay with his head down reminded me that I use to think he and Tony were brothers. Which reminds me furthers, whatever happened to the Scatturo Brothers from the Birdkillers? So many Hamburger Marys stories yet to be told.

When I first saw the photo, I thought maybe that was Tony, like it was sound check or something and he’d picked up Jay’s guitar to mess around with it. But no, it is Jay. Yup, they use to be both super skinny olive-skinned brothers from a different mother in appearance. Still are skinny and olive-skinned, but look very different these days.

Help me piece together my impaired memory. I saw Bomb 2-3x in Philadelphia, all in the Hilsinger era. One show was at a private club called Revival, and there was a naked dude running and jumping in place the entire show… was that Eddy?

Yes. Lyrics (as sung by your lovely wife as you blew her in the studio):
When I went through Ohio,
There were cows there.
When there’s cows, I drink milk.
But when I went through Utan
My eyes were parched.
And when my eyes are parched,
I don’t drink.
