This must be a joke, right?

Pleh! (”help” spelled backwards. Thank you, the pet!)
I’m still gonna vote for Ralph Nader, but I really like what Obama said about how it’s more important to protect the Constitusion than the flag:

Democrats tend to get under my skin, but some Republicans more. I get the impression that many Republicans haven’t even read the Constitution.
Regardless, I really can’t vote for anyone in the upcoming election. As much as I WOULD love to see a woman or black president, Hilary and Obama would wreck this country with unchecked immigration and unchecked social services. But McCaine, as much as I like his fiscial policies, is anti-abortion and very pro-war in Iraq. And very conservative on morals issues.
Bleah!
Is there any way we can Barry Goldwater? I’d vote for that guy.
I kinda liked Ron Paul, and apparently he’s somehow still in the race. He’s very into SMALL government. But he’s also kind of a nut. Still, I may vote for him.

If I were a presidential candidate and someone dared to give me even an ounce of bullshit about not wearing a motherfucking flag pin on my lapel, I’d say this:
“Tell you what. We’re going to go outside. We’re going to look at the lapels of the first thousand people who walk by. If more than fifty of them are wearing a goddamned American flag lapel pin, I’ll withdraw from the race.
“On the other hand, if fewer than fifty of the thousand are wearing a lapel flag, then YOU, Mr, Reporter, are going to resign your position immediately and apologize to me for EVER bringing this non-issue up. Agreed?”
And, of course, the reporter wouldn’t agree, because he/she would know perfectly well that most people feel no compulsion whatsoever to wear a fucking flag pin. At which point I would say: “Now start asking meaningful questions or I won’t be wasting any further time with you. I’ve got important things to be thinking about instead.”
My Viennese girlfriend is watching our election in disbelief.
“On my continent, we experienced a similar thing where people were expected to publicly display a symbol of ‘loyalty’ and ‘patriotism.’ That symbol was called a ’swastika’ and it was worn by people known as ‘Nazis.’”
America is going down the shitter.
