Aspire blows!
Recently Aspire Visa canceled their entire credit card line, even for people in good standing. They canceled mine. I’d never missed a payment, and that was my one decent card with a larger limit, and I was using it to build more credit.
So if you have one and get a letter from them, you probably didn’t do anything wrong. They’re doing that to everyone, even though they don’t say that in the letter. It’s kind of a pricky move to not explain it in the letter. The letter just says “account suspended.”
Here’s a consumer complaint site with many many many posts from people who had the same thing happen this week.
Kinda sucks to spend years building credit with them, never miss a payment, then have them do this, and NOT EXPLAIN IT. Their website doesn’t even say anything about it. The only difference is that the “sign up for Aspire” link is gone, and all that’s left is the “make payment” link. (Of course, you still have to pay the card off to not get a negative mark on your credit, but I somehow doubt paying it off will get you positive marks on your credit score.)
Just another smallish example of the continuing economomic disaster from things we have no say in and no control over.
