I love it. I think this person knows more about me than I do.

from the Simpsons:
Bart: So, what’s it like being famous, dad?
Homer: People know your name, but you don’t know theirs. It’s great.

Anyway, there’s one chapter of my upcoming book up now, here.
And I’ve started a web forum for people who want to talk about the book, here.

Hey. I just saw the post at Greylodge for your new book, and it looks really interesting. I’m looking forward to reading it.

…although I would like to ask…did you mean (recovery from) “libertarianism” (when you said) “liberalism?”….because “liberal” and “liberalism” have generally positive connotations…

Not to me. I’m a “recovering liberal.” And a libertarian.
From the book:
Both my parents were Republican, and since they were the people who disciplined me (or tried to), I thought “Republican” was a dirty word. They also thought that marijuana smokers should be in prison, and was certain they were wrong.
My sisters were products of the sixties, to me they were textbook liberals. And they were people who seemed much “freer” to me than my parents, so I thought “liberal” was a good thing, because it was “the opposite of conservative.” Even the sound of the word “conservative” rang ugly to me. I thought it meant “square.” Uptight……
……When I “saw the light” and “went over to the dark side” of being fiscally conservative (even more conservative than my dad, whom I’d always teased for being so conservative!), I asked my wife “Why did you marry me when I was such a flaming liberal?” She said “Because you are so wonderful in every other way…And you’re so smart I knew you’d come around!” (More on this in my upcoming book So I Married a Republican.)….

I realized what you meant later. I couldn’t tell because the word was in all-Caps.
Language Geek Tip–
Political - Liberal
generous - liberal
Of course, “Liberal” is meaningless jargon. It’s not a real political affiliation. It’s for Waspy white kids who are too tepid and comfortable to be actual Leftists.
And here’s why most “Conservative” pundits like Limbaugh are full of it—they use “Liberal” as a smokescreen to conceal the fact that there are virtually no Leftists or Progressives in Washington D.C. (Just like there aren’t any real Fiscal Conservatives.) Your choice in America is between Somewhat Conservative and Somewhat Less Conservative, both sides bought and controlled by the same Corporations.
