Why we moved to Wyoming
Since several people have written me saying “why did you move” (or sometimes “why the hell would you do THAT???), here’s pix and reasons.
Photos (go to these links and click on the little pix to get the big pix. Also, you can listen to audio on Radio Free Nestlandia for more info.)

SO WHY DID WE MOVE?
- California is experiencing economic collapse. Wyoming’s economy is booming.
- California is experiencing social collapse. Crime is going up, even in the “nice neighborhood” we lived in.
- Wyoming is the state that voted the most strongly AGAINST Obama (I believe Obama is destroying America)
- there is no income tax in Wyoming.
- Wyoming is gun friendly. (you can get a carry permit, you can open carry without a permit, and you can buy any gun in a store with no waiting period, there are no limits on number of bullets you can have in your magazine, and there is Castle Doctrine. And the neighbors don’t look at you like you’re crazy if they see you loading guns into your car to go shoot. They’re more likely to ask you what you have, then tell you what they have.)
- the air is clean here
- Wyoming is sparsely populated, and crime is low.
- People are friendly instead of distrusting
- It’s a beautiful place to live
- people would rather work for a living here (not many people on welfare, and people don’t look to the government as much to solve their problems.)
- it’s libertarian friendly. Even the democrat Governor is more libertarian than most republicans. He’s currently sponsoring a resolution that would enforce the 10th amendment (state’s rights over federal encroachment.)
- Wyoming is one of four states with a surplus, rather than a deficit, in the state budget.
I could go on, but I’ll just say we’re very happy here!
MEW!

Personally, I have always been a social liberal and fiscal conservative. I dont think any government we have had since WWII has been about the people and not who’s political side you are on(but thats when we were trying to keep hitler from over throwing the world). Since then we have had a series of presidents who are always going to extremes. I am not an advocate for social justice except in limited instances. I find that the older I get the more I turn into my parents (Gods help us).
Why are we bailing out the auto industry and yet unemployment is rising? Why do we bail out the banks and now BoA is looking to lay off people.
We live in a world were there are no consequences for your actions. You make a bad choice as a CEO and lose millions or billions, yet the employees suffer and you get a golden parachute?!? If anyone in charge could be held responsible, do you think we would have these issues?
If Bush could be held accountable for going to war(yes I was not in favor of it, I am however in favor of a strong military) or for starting the bail outs, do you think he would have done it? I doubt it.
We live in a world were the people in charge are untouchable and its not looking any better for my kids either…
Sorry for the rant, I just got on a roll…..

Read Representative Ron Paul’s book “The Revolution.”
http://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Manifesto-Ron-Paul/dp/0446537527/
I think it will make a lot of sense to you, and also offer some solutions and “redemption in the third act.”

P/s, “social liberal and fiscal conservative” pretty much equals “libertarian.” If you haven’t looked into that, please do!

:::Wyoming is the state that voted the most strongly AGAINST Obama:::
I thought it was Oklahoma, where Obama carried not a single county.
:::(I believe Obama is destroying America)::::
He’s just at the wheel of the Titanic. Unlike the original Titanic, THIS Titanic (i.e., the USA) has had a number of “captains” along the way, almost all of the recent ones having a particular fondness for steaming full speed ahead into icy waters. At night. While drunk.
Worst of all though are the “passengers” of the Titanic (that is to say, US citizens) who’d rather watch American Idle than pay attention to the progress of the ship. It’s always a rude awakening when you slam into the iceberg(s).
There are deep systemic inadequacies about the way this country insists on conducting its business. One of which is our two-party, winner-take-all, beholden-to-the-boys-with-money political system. It’s very curious to me that the US, when setting up a new constitution for Iraq, chose a parliamentary form of democracy—-and as far as I know, the US is the only “developed” nation which DOESN’T have a parliamentary / proportional representation form of government.
When you only have two choices—-bullshit or cowshit—-it doesn’t really matter that much what appears on your plate. It’s still gonna taste like shit.

I don’t see how anyone who has read your blog at any point could have questioned the “why” of the move. You laid it out so clearly. Odd, that.

Mostly it was people on my Yahoo mailing list who are not all on my blog. I send them to this post.

A long-time subscriber on my yahoo mailing list just wrote me back and said:

I wrote him back:
You misspelled “sophistic.”

From Websters:
Main Entry:
so·phis·tic Listen to the pronunciation of sophistic
1 : of or relating to sophists, sophistry, or the ancient Sophists
2 : plausible but fallacious
I assume he means the second meaning, “plausible but fallacious.”
Fallacious: From Websters: tending to deceive or mislead.

I’d disagree. Almost everything I listed was FACT. The only things that could be considered opinion is “Obama is destroying America”, and that was stated as my opinion. And it is a FACT that is is my OPINION that Obama is destroying America. And as for “people are friendly in Wyoming”, well, a visit will prove that as fact. But people who think my list is sophistic probably shouldn’t visit, because they probably would want to change Wyoming into California!

Well, maybe if you break it up by counties. but Oklahoma had 502,496 Obama votes and 960,165 McCain votes. Wyoming had 82,868 Obama votes and 164,958 McCain votes. Wyoming also had some third party votes, which Oklahoma did not have:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008
I didn’t vote for McCain, I voted for Bob Barr (Libertarian candidate.)
If Wyoming’s Governor Dave keeps up his good work, I may actually vote for him if he runs again, even though I swore I’d never vote Democrat again. The guy is pretty cool.

Democrats are a little different around here than the ones you’re used to in Kalifornia. Brian Schweitzer is a decent dude too, and pardon to those that don’t agree with me, but so is Jon Tester for the most part. Max Baucus I could take or leave a lot of the time, but even he isn’t a disgrace like some. If more Democrats were like the ones from Montana and Wyoming, and more Republicans for that matter, this country would be a lot better off. Your Governor kicks ass, if I lived in Wyoming I’d vote for him in a minute.
There was a sign across the street from where I work that said: “Politicians should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers, that way we could see who their corporate sponsors are.” Pretty much sums up my opinions with regards to politics, and especially politicians like Obama. Only trouble is, he’s making himself the sponsor. Wonder if they’ll put his logo on the hoods of all the GM race cars next season?

Of course, part of why Wyoming has no income tax and a healthier economy is that Californians like me have spent decades sending taxes to the federal government that never come back, but rather get spent in places like Wyoming. For every dollar I send the federal government, the California economy gets back $0.78 cents. In Wyoming, it’s $1.11.
I’m not anti-Wyoming, or anti- most of the reasons you’ve given, I just think there’s a certain irony to the fact that the states which tend to be most adamantly “State’s Rights” oriented states are the ones which suckle at the federal teat most heavily. (Though Wyoming isn’t nearly as bad as some…I figure I’ve probably bought New Mexico by now.)
